JavaScript for Beginners

Description

JavaScript is the language that makes web pages respond to what people do, and this toolkit introduces it from the ground up. The first lessons explain what JavaScript is and how to set up a development environment, then cover variables, data types and functions.

From there the lessons move to objects and arrays, changing a page through the DOM and handling user events such as clicks. A lesson on debugging shows how to find and fix errors, and the last lessons bring everything together in a first small project and suggest where to go next. Many lessons include exercises to try yourself. After reading, you should be able to read simple scripts and write short interactive ones.

Who it is for: beginners with no programming background who want to learn the basics of JavaScript for the web.
