Character Design for Storytelling
Description
Characters carry a story when their design reflects who they are. Six PDF lessons lay a foundation of personality and backstory, then look at visual storytelling elements and at gesture and emotion as ways to make a character feel alive.
Later lessons show how to fit characters into a story, set out a step-by-step character creation workflow and develop a portfolio. Exercises appear in most lessons, with two checklists and a template. After reading, you should be able to take a character from personality notes to a finished design and present a small body of work.
Who it is for: illustrators, writers and hobbyists who want to design characters for their own stories.
